Post-League Matches
The vipers travelled to the Play-Off weekend in Sheffield the week after lifting the Division 1 North title.
Unfortunately, Vipers had a fairly unsuccessful weekend, losing to Chelmsford on Saturday, and were unable to pick
themselves up on Sunday, losing narrowly 3-4 to Telford in a very close game.
Vipers took on Swindon (Division 1 South Champions) in the first leg of the promotion/relegation weekend.
Vipers only had a small squad, and despite putting up a great fight (particularly in the 2nd period), Vipers
ended up the wrong side of a 11-0 defeat. The defeat was not unexpected, but has hopefully acted as fuel to
motivate the Vipers players to improve their basic skills and fitness, so that next year we can not only
win the League again, but go on to the play-offs and promotion weekend, with great expectations!
Vipers were unable to hold on to their undefeated status this season, as they were beaten by a Sheffield side that were
determined to overturn the embarrassing defeat they suffered earlier in the season. Even though Vipers outshot the
visitors 47 to 24, they were unable to make the most of their chances and were punished at the other end. Final score was 3-5.
Vipers must get their heads together as they entertain Blackburn next week for the final game of the league season. A win
in this double-points affair will still leave Vipers lifting the Division 1 North title.

Vipers continued their successful season with a hard-worked 5-2 team performance on Sunday, against the travelling
Whitley side. The win secured Nottingham of second place in the league and a trip to the Play-Off weekend in
Sheffield. A win for Telford on Saturday, means they finish their season with 24 points. In summary, a victory
against Blackburn (double points game) will secure the title for Nottingham. However, an undefeated season would be
impressive, and Vipers need to beat Sheffield next weekend, to maintain their form. The match report is again available!

Vipers found themselves bagging another two points as they travelled to Peterborough on Saturday. A good 18 goals, scored from a variety of
players meant that Vipers have kept up the pressure on current league leaders Telford. A match report, with a slight difference, has been written
and is available in the reports section. (Appologies to any literary critics, academics, or just anyone brave enough to read it, in advance!).
The statistics (as written on the game sheet) have also been updated. Warning: players may not entirely agree with the game sheet!
The table has also been updated.
The race for the division 1 North top spot is down to 2 teams. Only Telford and Nottingham have the
capability to win the title, and yet 5 teams remain in the hunt for second place. This weekend sees
Nottingham travel to Peterborough (currently bottom of the league), Flintshire (5th) travel to Telford (1st) and
and Whitley (4th) entertain Coventry (6th). Of these teams, only Flinthire are out of the hunt for second place.
However, it is still all in Nottingham's hands - a win this weekend will guarantee a top-3 finish.
The Vipers travelled to the North on Sunday to face a Whitley side that going on this season’s form had the
potential to score but concede a number of goals. A high scoring game it proved to be, and as each player had a solid performance,
Vipers were able to leave Whitley knowing they had secured another 2 points, with a good 9-4 victory.
The away game against Blackburn scheduled for the upcoming weekend has been cancelled. At least we will have the whole team at training! It is
double points at the home game in May...must make sure of the win.
Last weekend, it was 2nd versus 3rd in Division 1 North. It was Telford that took both points, winning 6-4, and means that they too have
14 points and maintain 2nd place in the league. Nottingham still have a game in hand over Telford, but now really can't afford any slip-ups in their
remaining games.
Despite a valiant performance, the mini-Vipers were unsuccessful in their recent game against Kingston. It was always going to be
the game that would probably determine the title, and it was to be that Kingston came out on top. Although the mini-Vipers proved to be battling
opponents, clinical finishing by the Kingston girls saw the first ever U16 North Division title go to the team from Hull.
The mini Vipers take on the Kingston U16 team on Sunday. Face-off is 17:40. Kingston beat the Vipers
in their first meeting earlier this season, but a win for the Vipers in this return fixture will
mean that they are in the driving seat for winning their league. So, please come and give your
support to the girls on Sunday. See you there!
The return Coventry fixture had hoped to prove that the draw earlier this season was just a blip.
Well, in short, it didn't. Positives to take from the match - we didn't lose, and now we really
are fired up to put things right at the next match - Whitley Bay at home!
The match report is available, and the stats have been updated.
Sunday saw good wins for both the Senior and Junior Vipers. With the victory over Peterborough, the Vipers return to the
top of the Division One North table. The full match report is now available in the Reports section, and
the Senior player statistics have been fully updated.
Sunday sees back-to-back games at the NIC for the Vipers. First, the Junior Vipers face-off (5:30pm) and following this game,
the Senior team take on Peterborough (7:15pm). The Junior team are looking to match their previous
game's success (a great 6-3 victory over Billingham), and the Senior team want to keep the pressure on the other teams near the
top of the D1 North table!
Lets hope its a double triumph!
Viper's last match of 2007 ended in a 3-3 draw with Coventry. Although it was a disappointing
result, Vipers still go into the Christmas break undefeated. The full match report is available in the Reports section.
Following their 1-4 away win at Flintshire on Sunday, the Vipers awoke to find themselves on top of the league. Closest rivals Sheffield B also
have 10 points; however, Vipers victory over this Sheffield side earlier this season, plus 2 games in hand, has left Vipers sitting pretty (or at least
smiling and trying to look pretty!). The full match report is available in the Reports section. The stats from the past 2 games have also been updated.
Vipers travelled to Telford on Sunday for the return fixture. A much better performance by the whole team,
allowed Vipers to take a 3-7 victory. Five goal-girl, Julia, was awarded the (wo)man-of-match award.
The full match report is available in the Reports section.
Vipers fight out a good win against Telford. Telford who had won 3 out of 3, were unable to continue their winning
run of form when they travelled to the NIC on Sunday. Despite vipers being significanlty out-shot during the game and
going 3-1 down in the second period, a change of momentum at the end of the second
saw Vipers score 2 quick goals to bring it level, and wrapped up the win in the third.
Fundraising/sponsorship requests - for all members of the Vipers please be aware
that the club needs help financially. Therefore, start putting your fundraising/sponsorship thinking-caps on! Any imaginative ideas
of how we can raise some much needed finance, would be much appreciated. In addition, if you know of any individuals or companies that
may be interested in sponsoring the Vipers, then please let either Anna or Lorraine know. I can help you when it comes to letter writing etc - just
ask!!!
The U16 team played their first U16 league match at the weekend, and
despite putting in a good first performance lost 7-5 to a Kingston U16 team that have a lot of experienced and
good junior players.
The senior team have started their season well, with two good
wins over Flintshire and Sheffield B. Long may this form continue! Following relegation last year, the senior Vipers will play this
season in Division One North. The Vipers U16s will compete in the newly formed U16s league,
following league changes to minimum age rules.
Anna has finally figured out how to amend the website!
She appreciates that Nottingham is ablaze in fireworks to celebrate this fine achievement. She thanks
you all!
