Whitley Bay 15th February There were many incidents in the game against Whitley Bay on Sunday, and as I often tend to forget to mention critical and important facts
about the game I may get my apologies in first - so sorry, if I forget everything that happened. Here's a summary (and in no particular order):
In the post-match question and answer session, Coach Romek admitted that although he was pleased with the win, and some aspects of the game, there
were many aspects which he said needed a lot of work. When asked about such areas, Romek highlighted that there was a lack of width and speed in attack,
and felt that had his team managed to add these aspects to their game (which they had been working on in training), then the scoreline
would have been far greater. However, he was
pleased with certain individual performances, especially as he knows it is a hard place to travel to and play well.
The captain was interviewed by a sole paparazzi reporter during the training session following the game. However, the captain did not
take kindly to the intrusion to her training session, and chased the reporter off the ice! The content of the interview will not be repeated.
1: Alison Clark ('Ally') got her second shut-out of the season. In particular, making 3 great saves on breakaways.
2: Jenny Mabey scored her first ever goal for the Vipers, and promptly followed this by her second. Along with 2 assists, her 4 points
awarded her the well-deserved MOM.
3: Helen Moss scored a hat-trick, and also got a 4-point haul for the game.
4: I think someone forgot to turn the zamboni on when it was driven round the ice!
5: 9 different players got their names on the score sheet.
6: Anna slipped over on the off-ice warm-up (no wonder she couldn't stay on her feet on the ice).
7: It was a very aggressive game - Vipers ended up with 28 minutes in penalties!
8: The paparazzi were swarming around the team the entire day.
9: Ohh...We won (14-0)!
