Match report…
…The day Vipers guaranteed their play-off place
Leaving Whitley defeated, and with some egg on their face.
We skated, passed, shot and scored
“We want more”, the crowd, they roared.
Vipers started the game quite slow
The first 10 minutes just seemed to lack flow.
Julia had feared the number 20 shirt
A required change, as Anna was hurt!
Yet it only took 14 minutes to overcome
Julia slotting it home, to make the score one.
Assists going to Hannah and Urquhart –
A good little move and a finish most sharp.
A few anxious looks at the end of the first
Coach’s words were meant to hurt!
Could they manage to play as a team?
Could they continue the pursuit of the dream?
Questions that were formed on all of our lips –
And then Frenchy showed us how she can wiggle her hips!
Whitley, again, found themselves playing with four
The power play clicked – and Vipers did score.
Impressive D work, keeping out Kasner and co
Finally, Vipers had decided to put on a show.
A sweet little pass, from Hannah to Bailey,
Could she finish – only doubters say ‘maybe’!
4-0 on the board – such a pretty sight.
But Whiltey hadn’t yet given up the fight.
In the third period, they came back strong
It was too late, the game was won!
Quite beautiful passing from our little Flossy –
Inspired by her uncle on the bench – yes, I mean Glossy.
The highest of praise she does deserve
As she skated off with the player award.
The final score, was five to two.
Vipers all smiley, and not at all blue.
So, we all now pause with mild contemplation…
Of our season so far, and our final destination!
