Sheffield 30th November

As it is Christmas and the season of rhyme,

I’m writing this report with a glass of mulled wine!

It is filled with spice and lots of different flavours

A bit like our team - lovely people to savour.

Sheffield came roaming from lands afar

They followed the bright wandering star.

But no room they did find at the NIC,

Where Melon and Jade sang in perfect harmony!

In the stable there certainly were no asses

As all the D made some fairly good passes.

On the penalty kill a good one up the boards

Led to an aggressive play and the first goal was scored.

The second, not surprisingly, followed the first

Cookie shooting the puck at the goalie’s leg, did it hurt?

She didn’t wait around to answer her question

As she skated off with a sweet celebration.

The second period had some good stuff

But a little slip-up in D, saw an odd-man rush.

Sheffield had pulled the lead back to one

But the work ethic was good, as the job was not done!

Chances came a plenty to extend our lead

But it took a disallowed goal before came number three.

Then, it was left to Miss Worthington to finish the game

And the crowds went wild as they shouted her name!

So, as we look forward to the gifts under the tree.

And those smiley faces, glowing with glee.

The chocolate mountains and bitter orange rind.

What are those precious gifts we will we find?

A book of “Things not to say to a referee’s assistant”

The gift tag says Jo is the intended recipient.

For Anna, some paint to repair the damaged posts

And to that we shall raise our glasses and toast!

To victory, to Vipers and the top of the league!

May we return to Sheffield and make it 3 out of 3!
