Saturday proved to be a slightly odd day
It was Peterborough who were to entertain our stay.
Some of our team had diverted via Derby
They made it in time, although one would say ‘barely’!

Cookie was all in a ‘tis, as she hunted for a pad
But however hard she looked, it just wasn’t in her bag!
And it was Coach Roman who took his place by the board
It was to be his first time in charge, of the Vipers herd.

Our rookie for the match: Worthington, Hannah
Skated and shot in a delightful manner.
Lucy held the blue line like a prowling fox -
Her reward: two assists plus some time in the box.

An opposition player with whom she did interfere
These, the first penalty minutes of her career.
Others would join her as the game progressed
As Frenchie ‘held’, Julia ‘clipped’ and Rachel just ‘checked’!

Two ghost players even managed to score,
Players 15 and 10 getting their names on the board!
Mistakes that proved costly for Rachel and Bernadette
As they had both managed, quite gracefully, to find the net.

The players credited with the mystery goals?
Anna and Frenchy: oh, those points that they stole!
All dressed outskaters, for their hard work, were awarded,
And goalie Alison stood firm, as ‘Boro were thwarted!

The day didn’t improve on the way back
As Anna seemed to have misplaced the map.
And around the roundabouts we did go,
Giving me dizziness and slight vertigo!

The fair play league I fear is out of our reach
As the rules too often we seem to breach.
But the Division Title is still up for grabs
And next week we take on the Whitley chavs!

(No offence meant to the Whitley lot,
Its just that my rhyming skills aren’t too hot!)
In conclusion to this of days most bizarre.
A good 18-0 win and a short trip in a car!
